Initial Motor Data

We have run our first rough calculations for our motors in various configurations. Here you can see that there is a significant difference in the performance characteristics between the series and parallel configurations, as well as between 3rd and 4th gear. The numbers were calculated using our planned 96 volt pack for phase 1.

Motors Have Arrived!

We picked up our two brand new Warp 9 motors for Elektra UBC today, ordered through Electric Autosport. The motors look great and our Mech team is working on mounting and chain selection this week. The electrical guys have been meeting to discuss encoder and display options and progress is being made on our custom built motor controller as well!
We would like to welcome our new members as well! Jin, Simon and Peter joined the team this week and we’re glad to add their experience to our group.

Batteries Installed, Thank you Thomas&Betts

Thank you again Thomas&Betts for your donation of terminals and the use of your heavy duty crimping tool to reassemble our battery pack. Due to the rearrangement of the packs we needed to make several new cables for the battery pack. The batteries are now reinstalled and the car will be ready to drive out of the shop this weekend.
Welcome Elektra!!

E-Beetle Spray Insulation

The E-Beetle is nearly finished being sprayed with insulation and we’re looking forward to reinstalling the batteries soon. Below is a photo of Nima working on the insulation yesterday

UBC Electric Car is finally starting our new electric drag car! The platform we’re using is… Another Beetle!! It’s a light rear wheel drive car with plenty of character and access to parts. The chassis is arriving on Friday so she needs a name. Any members are welcome to vote on the name of the new car. The survey link is can be found here

The E-Beetle is now in the new EDC!!

The car has now been moved into the new shop. The batteries will be coming out once again this weekend in preparation for the battery insulation box and computer controlled heating system.
