ECC is now collaborating with Thunderbird Robotics

I am proud to announce that UBC Electric Car Club is now collaborating with Thunderbird Robotics on our journey to travel around the world.

“It is my believe that the electrification of vehicles is an irresistible trend that will transform our North American transportation system. As such, despite the fact that your team is not working specifically on robotics, the need for electrical storage and various control systems related to recharging and design of electrical/generator systems and for that matter, the integration of this technology into the North American electrical grid will require software and sensor technologies similar to our work with autonomous robots. So, we believe that some of our current members can be of assistance to your team in terms of ideas and potential pitfalls to avoid. Our experiences with international competitions can also offer your team advice and knowledge.” John Meech, P.Eng., Ph.D.  Head of Thunderbird Robotics.

The UBC Thunderbird Robotics Team started in 2004 by students, faculty, staff, and members of the community at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, with the goal of researching and building autonomous vehicles and robots. The team is working on several projects, including a robotic soccer team, a fleet of autonomous remote-controlled cars, and a lunar excavator.
